Tax Controversy Associate, Philadelphia, PA and Washington, DC · National Law Firm

A national law firm is seeking a tax controversy associate for its taxation and wealth planning department with offices in Philadelphia and Washington, DC. This role focuses on representing clients in federal tax disputes through administrative and court proceedings.

The work:

• Manage tax audits and appeals at the IRS
• Conduct federal tax litigation in multiple courts
• Develop legal positions and written arguments on complex tax matters
• Represent clients in negotiations with tax authorities
• Manage multiple matters simultaneously

What they're looking for:

• 3 to 5 years of tax controversy experience
• JD and Master of Laws in Taxation (required)
• Prior background as a tax court clerk, IRS counsel, or in a DOJ tax division
• Bar admission in Pennsylvania or Washington, DC
• Strong research and writing skills
• Ability to work independently and manage client relationships
