Labor and Employment Counseling Associate, Los Angeles · AmLaw 100 Firm

AmLaw 100 firm seeking a senior employment counseling associate for its Los Angeles office. Role centers on serving employers—from mid-market to multinational—as a trusted advisor on complex workforce matters and regulatory compliance.

The work:

• Counsel employers on wage-and-hour compliance, leave laws, disability accommodations, and emerging workplace requirements
• Draft and review employee handbooks, workplace policies, and employment-related agreements
• Conduct workplace audits, internal investigations, and compliance risk assessments
• Advise on employee discipline, terminations, workforce reductions, and related HR matters
• Partner with HR leaders and in-house counsel to develop practical compliance strategies
• Provide management training on employment law risks and obligations
• Stay current with evolving state and federal compliance landscape

What they're looking for:

• 7-10 years of employment law counseling experience, primarily in California
• Multistate and multinational employer experience required
• Expertise in wage-and-hour, leave, accommodations, and general employment law
• Substantial experience drafting policies, compliance documentation, and employment agreements
• Strong business judgment and ability to align legal guidance with client objectives
• Excellent client relationship skills and HR partner experience
• California bar admission in good standing
