International Trade Associate, Washington, DC · AmLaw 100 Firm
The firm's International Trade practice handles a growing docket of trade remedy litigation, customs compliance, and regulatory matters before the U.S. International Trade Commission and Department of Commerce. You'll draft agency filings and litigation submissions while managing discrete workstreams and developing client-facing judgment.
The work:
- Antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, trade remedy litigation, and customs compliance matters
- Briefs, pre- and post-hearing submissions, agency filings, and advocacy materials
- Tariff classification, country-of-origin determinations, valuation, and import compliance counseling
- Legal and factual research using administrative records and trade data
- Factual narratives, evidentiary records, and litigation strategy development
- Matter workflows, timelines, filings, and client deliverables
- Cross-functional work with partners, clients, economists, and consultants
What they're looking for:
- 3-8 years in international trade, customs, trade remedies, or administrative litigation
- Demonstrated expertise in substantive drafting and litigation (not research support)
- Strong legal writing: ability to synthesize complex facts and agency precedent into clear advocacy
- Understanding of AD/CVD proceedings, trade compliance, or customs matters
- Comfort with administrative records, agency deadlines, and brief-heavy litigation
- Client service orientation and practical business judgment
- Interest in building a long-term trade practice and partnership path
