Intellectual Property Associate, Washington, D.C. and Boston · Nationally Ranked IP Firm

Mid-level patent litigation associate position with a nationally ranked intellectual property firm. This role focuses on substantive patent litigation work for clients across sectors including health care, mechanical innovations, and technology products. You'll work on IP matters spanning development, acquisition, management, and commercialization of clients' intellectual property assets. The team includes experienced litigators and technical professionals with science and engineering backgrounds, which informs their approach to client work. You'll develop expertise in patent counsel across diverse technical disciplines while building litigation skills on matters of commercial significance.

The work:

• Conduct patent litigation and assist with prosecution and defense in technical disputes
• Advise on IP development, acquisition, portfolio management, and monetization strategies
• Work on matters across health care products, mechanical innovation, and high-tech industries
• Collaborate with clients' technical and innovation teams
• Conduct technical research and analysis to support patent positions

What they're looking for:

• 3–6 years of substantive intellectual property litigation experience
• Technical degree in electrical engineering (desirable) or related technical background
• Patent trial and appeal board (PTAB) experience is a plus
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand complex technology
• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Commitment to developing expertise in patent matters
