Sovereign Finance Associate, Washington DC and New York, NY · Vault Top 10 Firm

This is a junior- to mid-level associate role with a top-tier firm's sovereign finance practice in Washington, DC and New York. The team advises sovereign governments, multilateral development banks, and private clients on sophisticated capital markets and structured finance transactions.

The work:

• Advising sovereign governments and sub-sovereigns on bond offerings, capital markets transactions, and debt management
• Handling sovereign debt restructuring and liability management transactions
• Working on derivatives and specialized financing structures
• Supporting transactions with multilateral development institutions (World Bank, IMF, regional development banks)
• Advising leading companies and financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean on cross-border financing and capital markets matters

What they're looking for:

• Junior- to mid-level associates (JD 2022–2025)
• Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish required
• Strong academic credentials
• Experience or demonstrated knowledge in capital markets, finance, sovereign debt, or cross-border transactions
• Excellent legal analysis and drafting skills
• Interest in complex international transactions
