Leading intellectual property firm seeking technical specialist with strong background in telecommunications and electrical engineering for its Boston office. The role involves technical analysis and patent prosecution in emerging technologies, with approximately 30% of time spent on Mandarin Chinese language work and communications.

The work:

• Conduct technical analysis and prepare written arguments on patentability of inventions in telecommunications, 5G wireless, and electrical systems
• Draft and prosecute patent applications with attention to complex technical and mathematical concepts
• Research and analyze prior art from US patents, foreign patents (including Chinese), and academic literature
• Collaborate with inventors and engineers to identify and document patentable aspects of technologies
• Monitor competitive landscape for potential patent infringement opportunities
• Respond to USPTO office actions with technical and legal arguments

What they're looking for:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of patent prosecution or patent analysis experience
• Substantial experience with telecommunications, 5G/6G, and electrical systems patents
• Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken)
• Ability to work independently and manage complex technical matters
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 20%)
• Hybrid work arrangement available in Boston metropolitan area
