Life Sciences Patent Litigator, New York City · Leading Patent Litigation Firm
A patent litigation attorney role at a leading firm recognized for complex, high-stakes disputes in life sciences. The firm regularly takes cases to trial and before the Federal Circuit, distinguishing itself through genuine trial experience and depth of technical scientific expertise.
The work:
- Patent litigation: develop case strategy, draft pleadings and motions, prepare claim construction materials and expert reports
- Discovery and depositions: manage document discovery, take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and experts
- Inter partes and post-grant review proceedings: prepare petitions, responses, and oral arguments before the PTAB
- Trial preparation and participation
- Pre-litigation counseling and strategy
What they're looking for:
- JD from ABA law school; PhD in biological science (molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, pharmacology, immunology, or related)
- Active state bar admission (New York preferred); USPTO registration or patent bar eligibility
- 1–5 years litigation experience; exceptional written and oral advocacy; ability to explain complex science to judges and juries
- Preferred: Hatch-Waxman/BPCIA litigation experience, PTAB proceedings, or biotech/pharma industry background
