Life Sciences Licensing Associate, Washington, D.C. · Vault Top 10 Firm

A top-tier firm with deep expertise across corporate and technology transactions seeks a mid-level associate to expand its life sciences licensing practice. This role combines strategic counsel with hands-on deal work across Asia and US markets, requiring fluency in Mandarin and prior experience in cross-border transactions.

The work:

• Structure and negotiate intellectual property licenses covering patents, trademarks, and proprietary technology
• Draft and counsel on joint development, collaboration, and strategic alliance agreements
• Handle technology licensing and service agreements, including software-as-a-service arrangements
• Negotiate distribution agreements and manage related IP rights
• Conduct IP and technology-focused due diligence for corporate M&A and financing transactions
• Balance team-based work with independent management of substantial transaction components
• Support clients ranging from startups to established life sciences enterprises

What they're looking for:

• 3–5 years of law firm experience in IP licensing or technology transactions
• Fluency in Mandarin; demonstrated experience in Asian markets preferred
• Strong IP and corporate transaction background
• Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex license agreements
• Bar admission in any US jurisdiction (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe)
