Associate, San Francisco · Global Energy and Infrastructure Firm
This position focuses on California land use and energy infrastructure projects. The team handles large-scale development entitlements across residential, commercial, and renewable energy sectors, including wind, solar, battery storage systems, and transmission facilities.
The work:
- Guiding clients through California planning and zoning processes for major projects
- Advising on state housing legislation and streamlining strategies for high-density residential development
- Conducting environmental review and analysis under CEQA and NEPA
- Handling transactional agreements including development agreements, leases, easements, and utility interconnections
- Defending project entitlements in litigation when challenged
- Managing regulatory compliance across land use, environmental, and utility-scale infrastructure laws
What they're looking for:
- 3+ years of experience in California land use, energy law, or environmental law
- Strong command of California zoning, planning, housing law, and environmental statutes
- Ability to manage complex entitlement processes and coordinate with multiple agencies
- Litigation experience a plus
- Excellent academic record and California bar admission in good standing
